From our Pastor

What Matters Most?
Abiding in the Abundant Life of Jesus Christ

So much of our time is spent trying to engineer a secure future for ourselves and our families. We fool ourselves by living with the illusion that we are in control. We work long hours to earn more; we spend more and borrow more without finding satisfaction in things. We worry about so much. Perhaps there is an opportunity for us to be reminded again of what matters most in our lives.

Together we will seek to rediscover the purpose and peace of life through worship and the study of God’s Word beginning July, 25 in our new series of messages for Sunday Morning worship, “What Matters Most?”

July 25:   “What Really Matters?”               Sermon Text: Joshua 1:1-19            - Often we spend too much time trying to secure our
    future.
-        What does it mean to give up control?
-        Finding peace through what matters most

August 1:   “Serving or Sitting?”  Sermon Text: 1 Kings 17:7-15
-        Objects at rest tend to stay at rest.
-        How do you move beyond yourself?
-        Overcoming the inertia of complacency.

August 8:   “Devoted or Distracted?”
      Sermon Text: Judges 7:1-7
-        We all struggle with distractions, but God calls us to devotion.
-        How do we overcome the distractions of life?
-        Learning to be focused in faith.

August 15:   “Hoping or Hoarding?”             Sermon Text: 1 Kings 3:10-13
-        We can’t afford to continue living this way anymore.
-        How does God call us to invest in our future?
-        Using our resources and talents to glorify God.
