Oakley Chapel was chartered in 1872, just 36 years after the Arkansas Territory was ratified into the union of the United States, and only 6 years  after the United States Civil War ended. The first pastor was Thomas J. Smith. Since the days of 1872, Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church has felt a call from God to be a witness for Jesus Christ in the community. Here we are 140 plus years later and we remain committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Christ, as well as being a witness of God’s presence to the community and surrounding area.
Today we live out our calling by “Planting Seeds of the Gospel, Growing Faith and Producing Faithful Followers of Jesus Christ.” We do this through the proclamation of the gospel in word and deed. We take seriously, not only hearing the gospel, but applying the gospel message to our everyday life. We accomplish this in the way we worship, the way we study, and the way we fellowship. We invite you come and get involved in one of our ongoing ministries, or start one that God has called you to in order to plant seed, grow faith, and produce faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
We are excited about all that God has provided us – from a wonderful facility to use in serving our community, to the members who are committed to proclaiming the gospel to all with whom they come in contact. It is our prayer that you will come and enjoy your journey with Oakley Chapel as we work together to build God’s Kingdom.
